Sharing Things Between Organizations
Device Cloud enables you to share read and write or read-only access to things between organizations.
You must have access rights to all the organization with which you share a thing.
When you share a thing, you need to specify the access permissions for the other organization. If you have read and write access for a thing, then you can provide read and write or read only access to the thing in other organizations.
When you share access to a thing, the thing definition is also shared but cannot be modified by any of the organizations with which you share the thing. Attributes and properties are based on the thing definition. The thing definition is cached and there is a delay until the shared thing gets updated with the latest changes to the thing definition.
If you stop sharing a thing or delete a thing and no other things in the organization use the shared thing definition, the thing definition is no longer shared.
The thing definition of the thing you want to share must not exist in the other organization.
- On the thing details page, select the Sharing tab, and then click Share.
-
In the Share window, type or
select the Org key of the organization with
which you want to share the thing.
-
From the Permissions menu,
select Read and Write or Read only, and then click Share.
The Shared with list updates to show the organization and permissions with which the thing is shared. The thing and the associated thing definition appear in the other organization.
