Introduction to the Management Portal

The Management Portal is the browser-based user interface that is part of Device Cloud.

Using the Management Portal, you can view and manage all of your things that are connected to Device Cloud. In addition, the Management Portal enables you to manage users, user permissions, and automated responses to events.

The Management Portal enables you to perform system administration tasks, including the following:

  • user management

  • user and application permission management

  • dashboard management to provide custom views of data and things

  • platform configuration

  • usage monitoring to track access by users and applications

The Management Portal includes developer tools to enable you to do the following:

  • create applications and thing definitions to enable device and cloud applications to connect to Device Cloud

  • create cloud triggers to respond to real-time events

  • monitor thing-related events and API calls

  • create campaigns to perform, schedule, and monitor actions on groups of applications

  • create a virtual perimeter around mobile, location-aware things

For more information about the platform and Device Cloud architecture, see Device Cloud Getting Started.

Note:

There may be references in the Management Portal, for example, to LWM2M protocol (Lightweight M2M) and CoAP (Constrained Application Protocol). These protocols are in experimental stage and currently not supported or enabled.

Note:

Your organization can customize the appearance of the Management Portal, and your account permissions dictate the features you are allowed to access. The information about the Management Portal in this document is based on the appearance of the default organization and the organization administrator role.
