Viewing Device Cloud Sessions

A session is a sequence of network HTTP or MQTT request and response transactions associated to the same user or thing.

The Sessions page shows the history of a user or a thing with a unique IP address connected to the Management Portal during a specified period of time.

When a user or a thing authenticates successfully with Device Cloud, the subsequent requests are handled using the generated session ID. Each session is an instance of the interaction of a user or a thing with the Management Portal using the session ID.

Organization administrators can cancel their own sessions. Only super ops and super administrators can cancel other sessions.

To close an active session, you need super administrator privileges.

  1. Select Tools > Administration, and then click Sessions.
Device Cloud - Tools Menu Highlighting Administration

The Sessions page shows a list of sessions within the default time period, including users logged in to the Management Portal and things connected to Device Cloud.

  2. (Optional) To show sessions within a specific time period, select a date and time in the Start and End menus, and then click Show.
  3. For detailed information about the user or thing, click the View icon for the session.

The session details appear in JSON format.
