Adding a Method Alias
Method aliases are used to group the mailboxes of multiple things to simplify the use of the mailbox.send command.
You need the thing keys for all the things you want to include in the method alias.
- On the Developer page, click Method aliases.
- On the Method Aliases page, click New alias.
-
On the Adding Method Alias page, enter the
information in each of the fields.
- In the Key box, type a unique identifier for the method alias.
- In the Name box, type a descriptive label for the method alias.
- In the Thing keys box, type a comma separated list of things of one or more things to which to issue a command.
-
From the Policy menu, select a policy to follow while
selecting a thing within the group defined in the method alias.
Random is the only option available. Selecting random selects a random thing that is currently online from the list in the alias.
-
From the No target policy menu, select a policy to
follow if none of the things in the group are available.
The policy is only applied if the policy selected from the Policy menu fails.
The Random policy puts the command on the mailbox of a random thing to run when it comes online.
The Reject policy rejects the command when no things in the alias are available.
- Click Create.
