Uploading Files from Your Computer to the Management Portal

You can upload files from your computer to the Management Portal and store them in either the global file storage or thing-specific storage.

The following procedure uploads a file to the global file storage. However, you follow a similar the procedure to upload files to thing-specific storage under the Files tab on the thing details page.

  1. Click Developer and then on the Developer page, click Files.

    If no files have been uploaded, the Files page shows No files found..

  2. On the Files page, click New file.
  3. In the Add File window, click Attach File.
  4. In the operating system file explorer that appears, select a file.

    The Add File window updates to show the file name and the Change button.

  5. To enable anyone with access to the Management Portal to download the file, select the Public check box.
  6. (Optional) To add additional tags, type the tag name in the Tags box and press TAB.
  7. (Optional) To remove a tag, click the x icon of the tag.
  8. When you finish, click Upload.

    The Files page shows the list of uploaded files.

    The Public column indicates if a file is public or private. In the following example, the iot_win.cfg file is private and the options.json file is public.

    The tag cloud shows the file extension of the file and any tags you added.
