Use Management Portal to View Data Transmission

Log onto the Device Cloud, find your device, and view the data that is being transmitted by the telemetry application from the device.

  1. In your browser's address bar on your host machine, type the URL you were given when you received your Device Cloud account, and then on the Sign In page, type your user name and password in the boxes.
  2. To access the Management Portal, click Development Tools.
    Device Cloud - LaunchPad
  3. Click Things.
  4. If you see the Live Updates For Things window, click Update to close the window.

Closing the window does not enable live updates, but if needed, you can go to your profile page and enable live updates later.

  5. In the Search things text box, enter a single string consisting of key: and the device ID that you got from the device_id file in quotes. Then press ENTER.

For example, the search string should look similar to this, but with your own device ID:

    key:"88749750-227d-11e8-ad00-cbbbec96566a"

The Things page shows only things with thing keys that contain your device ID (including the telemetry application). If there are a lot of entries, click Last Seen to see the most recent first.

You can find your application in the Key column, where it will be listed as a string consisting of the device ID and the application name. For example:

    88749750-227d-11e8-ad00-cbbbec96566a-telemetry-app
  6. Click on the View icon (an eye) for your application's entry in the list.

The Overview tab of the page that appears displays the data that is transmitted from the telemetry application.

The Properties section shows data in graph format. You may need to wait a moment for data values to appear in the graph. If necessary, reload the page again. For example:

HDC Vx7 Device Data from Telemetry App
  7. To see more details about individual properties, including the data in table format, click the property name (for example boolean).

To zoom in and out, click on the graph and rotate your mouse wheel. You can also use the time-line bar below the graph to select time intervals.

For more information about viewing property details, see Device Cloud Management Portal User's Guide: Viewing the Properties of a Thing.
