Device Cloud includes device-side and platform-side components.

Overview

The following figure shows the components in the end-to-end IoT solution.

Device Cloud High Level Architecture

The Device Cloud agent is composed of the following:

  • an SDK, which includes the IoT API to enable you to build client applications on the device

  • applications that run on the device to facilitate device management

  • sample applications that show how to use the APIs

The cloud provides representational state transfer (REST) APIs called over HTTPS to support custom applications and integration with third-party clouds.

The Management Portal provides remote device management, including remote method execution, custom attributes, software update, and automated triggers based on device data and attributes. It also provides platform configuration, dashboard tools to create custom views of the portal, user management, and access control for users and applications.

The LaunchPad provides access to the Management Portal and custom platform applications.
